It is known that Rafael Nadal has pulled out of the Wimbledon 2024 singles main competition. Nevertheless, Nadal’s inability to play at the All England Club is not due to an injury.
Following his first-round loss to eventual champion Alexander Zverev at the French Open, Rafael Nadal intends to concentrate on getting ready for the Paris Olympics, which take place in late July and early August. Since clay courts will be used for the Olympics, Rafael Nadal prefers to stay on the same surface and train there instead of switching to Wimbledon’s grass courts. This is because he last played on Roland-Garros courts.
I shall miss competing at The Championships at Wimbledon this year because of this. I regret that I was unable to experience this year the wonderful energy of that incredible event, which will always hold a special place in my heart, and to be with all of the British supporters who have always shown me so much support. I’ll miss every one of you.”
The Swedish Open in Bastad, which is a clay competition that starts on July 8, will be Nadal’s next match. The Spaniard has participated in three Bastad tournaments, taking home the title in 2005 after defeating Tomas Berdych. The current Bastad champion is Andrey Rublev, while Jannik Sinner is scheduled to compete in the 2024 competition.
